Conferences
Newton’s Apple has organised and contributed to a number of conferences which bring together all stakeholders: those that know about science, those who are in positions to make real changes and those who are affected by them...
Cancer 2025: The Science Pathway to Effective Treatment and Services
Newton's Apple created a neutral forum for stakeholders in cancer research, treatment, and policy to debate and propose actions to optimise cancer research, treatments and services in 2025.
NESTA Crucible 2007
Newton’s Apple facilitated a Parliamentary Question Time Session for the 30 participants of the scheme, giving scientists an opportunity to talk directly to Parliamentarians. The event highlighted the importance of engaging stakeholders and helping to build firm interdisciplinary relationships.

Cancer Innovation: Delivering Innovative Cancer Diagnostics and Treatments to Patients
This conference was organised for stakeholders involved with the research, development and distribution of cancer diagnostics and treatments, the Government, regulatory bodies and the NHS, as well as patient groups, clinicians, nurses and others, to identify how greater uptake of innovative diagnostics and treatments could be achieved for the benefit of patients.
Newton's Apple was involved with NESTA Crucible 2008, where we provided the Newton’s Heirs Workshop, ‘An Introduction to Science Policy’, to postdoctoral researchers from a wide variety of disciplines.
BA Science Communication Conference
‘Engaging with Policy for the Purpose of Explaining Science’
Newton’s Apple enabled science communicators to question and debate with panellists from across the science policy spectrum. Topics under debate included how Parliament balances public opinion with scientific evidence in current debates, such as that on hybrid embryos.
Newton’s Apple will be in Liverpool for this year’s BA Festival of Science, for a session entitled ‘What are you being served?’ We will be exploring how the science underpinning policy and advice arrives on your plate with a panel of food experts.
