Newton's Apple is about to launch the report resulting from it's second project on cancer; Delivering Innovative Cancer Diagnostics and Treatments to Patients.
To mark the launch of Newton’s Apple a collection of essays, under the title ‘A Scientific Vision for the 21st Century’, was released. The essays represent opinions on the direction of future science policy from across the scientific spectrum. Contributors included Members of Parliament, eminent scientists, industrialists, teachers and PhD students.
On the 23rd May, 2007 the first major report by Newton’s Apple was released. Entitled ‘Cancer Vision 2025: The Science Pathway to Effective Treatments and Services’, the report seeks to push science to the forefront of the cancer debate and outlines recommendations for improving the scientific pathways from the laboratory to the patient.
The second cancer report published by Newton’s Apple: ‘Delivering Innovative Cancer Diagnostics & Treatments to Patients’ was released in July.
Newton’s Apple regularly releases both a general newsletter and a specific Newton’s Heirs newsletter. These are available to view online:

The initial launch of Newton’s Apple took place on the 16th October, 2006 at the Science Media Centre in London. Click here to read the accompanying press release.
On May 23rd, 2007 the Newton’s Apple report ‘Cancer Vision 2025: The Science Pathway to Effective Treatments and Services’ was launched. Read the press release here.

Since the launch of Newton’s Apple several articles have been written about the think tank and its aims and the programmes it has run:
A Science in Parliament article, written by Mia Nybrant and Dr Michael Elves (respectively, Director and Chairman of Newton’s Apple), introduced the organisation to parliamentarians.
Ben Goldacre (medical doctor and founding member of Newton’s Apple) wrote about the launch of Newton’s Apple on his own website.
In the March 2008 edition of the Institute of Physics’ Interactions newspaper, the honorary president of Newton’s Apple, Ian Gibson MP writes about the importance of improving the ‘science-into-policy’ process for the public benefit, and the role that Newton’s Apple can play in achieving this.
The Times Higher Education supplement covered the release of the ‘Cancer Vision 2025’ report.
The July 2007 issue of Science Insight (a British Council online bulletin) also reported the release of ‘Cancer Vision 2025’.
ResearchResearch, the online ‘newspaper for the research world’, also publicised the Cancer Vision 2025 report.
The Newton’s Heirs programme was introduced on the Nature Networks scientific forum in May, 2007.
